Before you rush to publish

See eh… It is always easy to spot other people’s specks, but overlook the log in your eyes…

This also happens in writing…

You spot other people’s mistakes, but you may not see yours…

This usually happens when you become your own editor… Or treat this process like child’s play.

*******

Many times I read books I buy, I do so with my pen and marker…

Underlining or highlighting important points or errors…

Truly speaking even many of the best written books, could have one or two grammatical errors…

But when you read a book that has grammatical errors from even the cover page to the back page… A lot of things come to your mind…

And for many people, it stops them from reading further…

*******

When I was writing my first book…

I did a little diagram… Love – – – – > Marriage – – – – – >Sex

And for reasons I don’t know when the dummy was printed it changed to

Love – – – – > Sex – – – – – > Marriage.

And this error and more were picked up by my editor, and myself during proofreading…

Publishers call it the printing error…

Just imagine rushing to publish, because I wanted to do first to finish

So many times I get a call, I even got one today…

Ovd, I want to write a book ?, or books ?… The manuscript is ready, which publisher do you recommend (self publishing)…

I ask about editing…

And realize for many of these, would be authors, they consider editing as an unimportant part of the process…

And after talking with them and showing them errors, they decide to calm down and do the process properly…

Many don’t even care about the ISBN… Or even check to ensure it is not fake…

One day I got books from an author and discovered that two of his books had the same ISBN…

This will be really awkward, if this book is to sell in a foreign platform…

The process determines the product…

I know a good editor, Marshal Bernard www.editgrammar.com…and many other ones..

You can get your ISBN and ask about book production process from Omolola Mary Omosebi PhD she will guide you through the process…

If you wan chop frog, chop better one.

Again what do I know?
